The three most commonly used link metrics in wireless sensor networks are analyzed and compared. It is found that when a certain packet receiving rate requirement is met, there is a minimum threshold for the node\'s received signal strength. Considering the deficiency that the nodes need to have the same transmission power when the received signal strength is used as a condition for topology construction, it is proposed to use the path loss size as a condition for topology construction, and a distributed topology control algorithm, PLBD, is designed. While ensuring the packet receiving rate, the algorithm also allows the communication between nodes to retain the minimum loss link. Simulation results show that the topology constructed by the PLBD algorithm can not only ensure network connectivity, but also has the characteristics of low communication delay, good robustness, and relatively balanced energy consumption.
