In order to test and study the low voltage ride-through capability of wind power systems, a voltage sag generator is needed to simulate various grid faults in the grid specifications. This paper presents a new low-cost voltage sag generator, which uses a controllable device IGBT to switch between the primary and secondary sides of the voltage regulator to achieve voltage sag and control the type, depth, duration and start and end phases of the voltage sag.
