              When a cardiac patient with an implanted pacemaker undergoes an electrocardiogram (ECG), the cardiologist must be able to detect the presence and effects of the pacemaker. The electrical signature, or artifact, of the pacing signal consists of small, narrow pulses. These artifacts are difficult to detect because they are buried in the noise and larger ECG signal. This article will describe the nature of pacing artifacts and introduce a device and method for detecting them. …
