Aiming at the main pole open circuit fault of electric locomotive traction motor, this paper expounds the principle and specific circuit design scheme of detecting motor main pole cracks, and proposes methods to overcome the lift-off effect and measures to improve measurement accuracy during the main pole crack detection process. When there is a crack defect in the main pole, the magnetic flux passing through the detection coil will change. According to the size and distribution of eddy current, the parameters affecting the electrical characteristics of the coil can be detected, thereby discovering the main pole crack fault of the traction motor. The eddy current detection device for main pole cracks of traction motor designed by this scheme has the advantages of adjustable frequency, stable measurement results and high accuracy.
