The method of using maltodextrin modified tyrosinase carbon paste electrode to construct an amperometric biosensor for measuring phenolic pollutants in water was studied. In a phosphate buffer solution with an applied voltage of -100 mV (vs1SCE) and a pH value of 5.140, the electrode had a good linear relationship with the concentration of phenol in the range of 210×10-7 to 110×10-5 molöL, the detection limit was 110×10-7 molöL, and the response time was 2 min. This electrode also had a good response to other phenolic substances such as catechol, p-chlorophenol, and o-cresol. This electrode can be used to detect the content of phenolic substances in industrial wastewater. Keywords: biosensor; amperometric enzyme electrode; tyrosinase; maltodextrin
