According to the characteristics of the welding wire dry extension sensor, a wave-controlled short-circuit transition CO2 welding torch height real-time tracking control system with MOTOROLA MC68HC11A1 single-chip microcomputer as the main control CPU was established. Through the real-time detection and processing of the welding wire dry extension during the short circuit, a reasonable control system structure was adopted to achieve real-time and accurate control of the welding torch height of short-circuit transition CO2 welding. The performance of the control system was experimentally studied under different conditions. The experimental results show that the system has good steady-state and dynamic performance, and can achieve real-time tracking control of the welding torch height under different tilt angles, different wire feeding speeds and different welding speeds. The realization of real-time control of the welding torch height ensures the stability of the welding process and improves the welding quality.
