Luminary Micro provides analog-to-digital converter (ADC) modules in some of the Stellaris family of microcontrollers. The ADC has a hardware resolution of 10 bits, but the actual accuracy is less than 10 bits due to noise and other factors that reduce accuracy. This application note provides a software-based oversampling technique that improves the effective number of bits (ENOB) of the conversion result. The document describes how to perform oversampling on the input signal and the impact on accuracy and overall system performance.
