In recent years, with the development of electronic technology, consumer electronics products have been combined with computer and communication technologies to become the so-called 3C products, and household electronic appliances are moving towards the direction of smart home. However, most smart home systems are currently controlled by 8-bit or 16-bit single-chip microcomputers, whose control functions are relatively simple, making it difficult to achieve networking and wireless transmission, and the scalability of future smart home systems is also relatively limited. Aiming at the limitations of the current domestic smart home system, this paper proposes a smart home system based on the embedded processor ARM platform and Ethernet and GPRS network communication technology. It can not only monitor the safety status of residential buildings in the community in real time, but also realize remote control of household appliances and remote copy of the \"three meters\" (i.e. water meter, electricity meter, gas meter). At the same time, the system also provides a standardized serial communication interface, which provides broad space for the expansion of the system in the future. This paper first introduces the development of ARM processors and embedded operating systems uClinux in detail, then discusses the working principle of GPRS network communication technology, and finally gives the hardware design and software design of the smart home control system. The hardware of the smart home system mainly includes the selection of ARM main control module, alarm I/O circuit design, Ethernet interface circuit design, image processing module circuit and serial port circuit of \"three meters\". The software mainly includes uClinux transplantation on S3C4510, image acquisition and compression program, Ethernet driver and communication program, RS-485 serial interface program, GPRS network communication program and alarm I/O interface program. The main parts of the system include security monitoring of residential buildings in the community, remote control of GPRS wireless smart appliances and wireless alarm, and remote transmission of meter reading. The current more mature GPRS technology and Ethernet are used to realize centralized security monitoring and management of users in the community. At the same time, the system\'s functions and structure, hardware principle block diagram, software design ideas and main programs are given.
