When signals are transmitted in a channel, crosstalk often occurs. The electronic dispersion equalizer based on maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) is used to overcome the inter-symbol interference caused by various dispersions in optical fiber communications. The equalizer based on maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) is studied and implemented using the Viterbi algorithm. Matlab is used to simulate the improvement of performance indicators (eye diagram and bit error rate) after using MLSE.
