Analysis and application of Bluetooth antenna technology Analysis and application of Bluetooth antenna technology Author: Fang Shiting Excerpted from: Taiwan \"New Communications\" November 2001 Issue 9 Bluetooth can be a low-cost, low-power and short-range wireless communication technology that can be widely used in any personal mobile communication device. With the formal formulation of the Bluetooth 1.0 version in 1999, a revolution in short-range wireless communication networks seems to have begun, and the wireless personal area network (PAN) developed from the Bluetooth concept has also been formally established. So far, since the Bluetooth-related products launched on the market have not yet been fully popularized, the familiar term \"Bluetooth\" still gives people a feeling of \"half-covered\" in product applications. In addition to the fact that the Bluetooth specification has not yet been fully finalized (version 2.0 is under development), another important factor is that the price of the entire Bluetooth module is still high, making the price of Bluetooth products high. For example, the Bluetooth headset launched by Ericsson has an estimated price of about US$200. Therefore, reducing the price of the module has become the direction that Bluetooth chip providers and peripheral component manufacturers are committed to developing. \"Antenna\" is an important and necessary component used to transmit and receive electromagnetic wave energy in wireless communication systems. Since current technology cannot integrate antennas into semiconductor process chips, in addition to the core system chip, the antenna is another key component that affects the transmission characteristics of the Bluetooth module in the Bluetooth module. In various Bluetooth application products, the antenna design methods and manufacturing materials used are also different. In addition to helping to match the appearance of the product and improving the transmission characteristics of the Bluetooth module, choosing an appropriate antenna can also further reduce the cost of the entire Bluetooth module. This is another possible consideration for Bluetooth system manufacturers to reduce module costs in addition to seeking low-priced system chips. This article will introduce the design considerations, relevant important parameters, types of Bluetooth antennas, and application considerations in products for Bluetooth antennas. Important antenna parameters The main function of the antenna is to convert the propagation medium (usually...
