Digital TV Set-Top BoxDigital TV Set-Top BoxYan XianwenZhongshilian System DepartmentSet-Top Box OverviewSet-top Box (Set TopBox, STB) in the early days refers to analog channel adders and analog channel descramblers based on cable TV networks; with the rapid development of digital TV broadcasting and the Internet, users\' demand for information has continued to increase, and set-top boxes have evolved into information receiving and processing devices with TVs as display terminals. Currently, there are set-top boxes that receive digital TV and WebTV set-top boxes that access the Internet on the market. Digital TV is an end-to-end system that processes signals in digital form from program acquisition, production, transmission to user-side set-top boxes. There are currently three major standard systems in the world: ATSC, DVB, and ISDB, all of which are based on the TS (transport stream) mechanism of MPEG-2. Digital TV broadcasting standards are used to define how to implement TS stream transmission on different transmission media. With the development of digital TV technology, open service systems have become the mainstream of digital TV development. The MHP (Multimedia Home Platform) standard established by the DVB organization has won the support of most middleware manufacturers. For example, OpenTV, MediaHighWay, etc. will transition to open service systems represented by DVB/MHP. my country has also successively announced the transmission standards for standard definition digital TV and is formulating an independent open service system, which has laid the foundation for the digital TV transformation of cable stations and the research and manufacture of set-top boxes. Digital set-top boxes receive digital TV and various data information from various transmission media, and watch digital TV programs and various data information on analog TV sets through demodulation, demultiplexing, decoding and audio and video encoding (or through corresponding data parsing modules). According to the different signal transmission media, digital set-top boxes are divided into three types of digital TV set-top boxes: cable, satellite and terrestrial. The hardware structures of the three set-top boxes mainly differ in the demodulation part. At present, set-top boxes mainly provide basic audio and video services and data applications. After a period of time, they will make full use of the wider bandwidth of CATV networks to realize interactive functions, and eventually develop into a set of decompression, Web browsing, etc.
