With the development of precision agriculture, agricultural planting and agricultural researchers need a handheld NDVI meter to quantitatively measure the growth of crops. This paper discusses the complete design process of a handheld NDVI meter, elaborates on the design principle, and gives a detailed single-chip program, design circuit schematic diagram and PCB diagram. The NDVI meter uses sunlight as the light source, and the photodetector is realized by a filter and a photosensitive diode, which is controlled by an AT89C51 single-chip microcomputer. It has the characteristics of simple structure, low cost, light weight and low power consumption.
