In new signal chain and analog-to-digital converter (ADC) front-end designs, system designers need to consider many front-end topologies and design trade-offs. These trade-offs include bandwidth, input drive, impedance, and performance. Topology is also important, i.e., whether the input is amplifier-coupled or transformer-coupled, and whether the ADC architecture is buffered or not. Numerous papers have explored how to weigh the pros and cons and make the right choice.
