Electromagnetic brake is a new type of auxiliary braking system for automobiles. In order to ensure good braking performance of the vehicle, it is very important to optimize the design of the key component of the brake, the electromagnet. In order to achieve uniform wear on the friction surface of the electromagnet, starting from the braking mechanism of the brake, the surface wear of the electromagnet during braking is analyzed, and an asymmetric electromagnet structure is proposed, that is, the symmetry of the magnetic circuit of the electromagnet is broken by slotting the surface of the electromagnet. The electromagnetic field analysis software Ansoft is used to analyze the influence of the area, width and depth of the slots on the surface of the electromagnet on the size and distribution of the electromagnet suction force to obtain the best asymmetric structure electromagnet. The advantages of asymmetric electromagnets in terms of wear are verified through experiments.
