The number and complexity of electronic systems in automobiles are growing. Take the cost of electronic systems in the total cost of automobile production as an indicator. In 2002, electronic systems accounted for less than a quarter of the cost of producing a car. But by 2010, the share of electronic systems will account for about a third of the total cost of production. Currently, about 90% of the innovation in new cars is based on electronic products to meet more stringent environmental and safety regulations and respond to customer expectations for higher performance, comfort, communication and entertainment. To integrate these massive growth requirements into advanced electronic systems, today\'s automobiles are equipped with many sensors, actuators, control modules and distributed systems. At the same time, the design cycle of some parts of automotive electronic circuits has been compressed from about 5 years to less than one year. Agilent has repeatedly demonstrated its leadership in the industry by using its leading electronic products to support the computer and communication industries to successfully cope with the increasing complexity of networked electronic systems. Now is the right time for Agilent to use its test and measurement expertise to help the automotive industry successfully launch a new generation of innovative vehicles. Agilent products focus on the entire product life cycle of the vehicle and provide the highest-end products for vehicle development, design verification and production.
