With the development of social economy and science and technology, highway traffic has become a major system related to the lifeline of the national economy and social and economic development. The concept of automobile navigation has gradually become popular and has become an extremely important part of highway traffic. People are no longer satisfied with the navigation system based on PC because it is too expensive and has high power consumption. Now, the navigation system based on embedded devices is developing rapidly, but the current popular one is based on WinCE operating system, which is relatively expensive. The navigation system designed in this paper uses the low-power, high-performance embedded SOC chip S3C2410 based on ARM9 structure as the main controller, and uses embedded Linux as the kernel of the system. Linux is an open and free operating system, and the CPU uses 32-bit RISC (reduced instruction set). The embedded Llinux based on ARM as the kernel of the system solves the problem of high cost. Because the embedded operating system is the basis of the application in the process of designing the system in this project, it will be introduced in detail in this paper. The system can collect GPS signals, support RS-232 interface, and use liquid crystal display (LCD) human-machine interface to provide operators with a good monitoring interface. The software system is developed under the embedded Linux operating system, which realizes the transplantation of Linux operating system and QT graphics system, and the design of device drivers, control applications, and human-computer interaction interface. This paper introduces the design and development of a multi-function vehicle navigation system based on ARM S3C2410 from the aspects of theory, hardware design, software design, etc.
