The LT®3481 is an adjustable frequency (300kHz to 2.8MHz) monolithic step-down switching regulator that accepts input voltages up to 34V (36V maximum). An efficient 0.18Ω switch and a boost Schottky diode are integrated on the chip along with the necessary oscillator, controller and logic circuitry. A current mode topology is used for fast transient response and good loop stability. In a typical application, low ripple Burst Mode operation maintains high efficiency at low output currents while keeping output ripple below 15mV. In addition, the LT3481 is able to further improve efficiency at low output currents by absorbing bias current from the output when VOUT is above 3V. The shutdown feature reduces the input supply current to less than 1µA while the resistor and capacitor on the RUN/SS pin provide a controlled output voltage ramp (soft start). The power good flag signals when VOUT reaches 90% of the set output voltage. The LT3481 is available in 10-lead MSOP and 3mm x 3mm DFN packages with exposed pads for low thermal resistance.
