        This paper presents the design, experimental study and characteristics of a 10kV IGCT with low on-state voltage and fast switching for use in 6kV 7.2kV medium and low voltage springs. We have verified the characteristics of two different devices for high and low frequency switching applications such as railway power grids and medium voltage drives by testing the blocking, on-state and switching capabilities that reflect the overall performance of the device.
