Digital television has developed rapidly in recent years, and it is an inevitable trend that it will eventually replace analog television. The rise of programmable logic technology and EDA technology has also brought about a huge change in electronic system design. This paper applies the rapidly developing FPGA technology to digital television systems, and studies and explores the FPGA modeling and implementation of the key equipment in the digital TV front-end system - the transport stream multiplexer, as well as related key technologies. This paper first introduces the development status and prospects of digital television, outlines the composition structure and key technologies of the digital TV front-end system, and the development and advantages of programmable logic technology. Then it introduces the important standard MPEG-2 in the digital TV system and the principle and system structure of the transport stream multiplexer, and theoretically explains the key technologies of multiplexer design: PSI reorganization and PCR adjustment. Then it explains in detail how to use innovative ideas and adopt a unique hardware architecture to implement the software and hardware system of the entire multiplexer on a FPGA, and gives examples of several FPGA design techniques used in the hardware logic design of the multiplexer. Finally, this paper summarizes this article and proposes a vision for the future development of multiplexer equipment in digital TV systems. The SOPC-based hardware multiplexer design scheme introduced in this article integrates the system\'s software and hardware on a low-cost, high-density cyclone series FPGA newly launched by Altera, and applies FPGA design techniques to the hardware logic design of the multiplexer. The entire design scheme not only simplifies the system design, but also realizes a stable, high-speed, low-cost, and highly scalable multiplexer system.
