Both TCP and ICMP can measure connectivity. Understanding the difference between their measurement results is of guiding significance for network fault diagnosis and network modeling. In order to compare the measurement differences between the two, two host sets were selected from the Internet as the detection targets, the test parameter selection was evaluated to ensure the accuracy of the test, and a connectivity measurement comparison experiment was performed. The results show that there is a big difference in the connectivity measurement results between the two, and TCP can detect host connectivity more accurately than ICMP.
