The MAXQ1050 is a low-power secure microcontroller designed for USB security token and smart card reader applications that require authentication or other public key cryptography. The device uses highly reliable security mechanisms to protect encrypted data; two self-destruct inputs and environmental monitors (temperature and voltage sensors) immediately erase encrypted data when tampering is detected. The device integrates a full-speed USB device interface (including transceiver), a hardware SPI™ controller, and an ISO 7816 UART (universal asynchronous receiver and transmitter) to support smart card communications. AES, RSA, DSA, ECDSA, SHA-1, SHA-224, SHA-256, DES, and 3DES hardware accelerators support high-speed encryption. A hardware random number generator is used to generate keys and challenges.
