Design of lithium battery charger with constant current and constant voltage charging method

A lithium battery charger based on constant current-constant voltage (CC-CV) charging mode is proposed. In CC-CV charging mode, the charger first provides a large charging current to the battery; before the battery voltage reaches saturation, the charging current begins to decrease; after the battery voltage reaches saturation and remains constant, the charging current further decreases. This charging method can avoid charging the battery with a large current near the saturation value of the battery voltage, which may cause overheating. The innovative design of the core circuit of this charger chip ensures the realization of this CC-CV charging mode.
