The SMM series capacitors are new longer life snap-in capacitors with smaller case sizes. When
compared to our SMH snap-in series, the SMM capacitors not only have an extended rated lifetime
from 2,000 to 3,000 hours with the full rated ripple current applied, but also are one case size smaller
than equivalently rated SMH capacitors. These characteristics allow downsizing for many power
supplies and also provide better reliability due to the increased life.
The standard SMM capacitors are non-solvent proof and are not recommended when halogenated
cleaning solvents are used. Refer to the Mini-Glossary for recommended cleaning conditions.

The following specifications shall be satisfied when the capacitors are restored to 20 C after
subjecting them to the DC rated voltage for 3,000 hours at 85 C with the rated ripple current
applied. The sum of DC voltage and peak AC voltage must not exceed the full rated voltage of
the capacitors.

The following specifications shall be satisfied when the capacitors are restored to 20 C after
exposing them for 1,000 hours at 85 C without voltage applied. The rated voltage shall be
applied to the capacitors for a minimum of 30 minutes, at least 24 hours and not more than
48 hours before the measurements.

Capacitance Tolerance: M = 20%
Capacitance Value: Expressed in Microfarads. The first two digits are
significant figures, and the third digit indicates the number of zeros
for capacitance of 100 F or more. R indicates the decimal point for
capacitance less than 100 F (e.g. R56 = .56 F; 5R6 = 5.6 F;
56R = 56 F; 561 = 560 F; 562 = 5,600 F; 563 = 56,000 F ).
Lead Configuration: VS or VN = Snap-in Terminals.
VR = Straight Pins with or without Standoffs.
