Introducing
EP II Connector Series with TPA Device
This new generation of single-row Economy Power (EP) connectors comprises of
newly designed plug housings, a new lance-less crimp contact (terminal) design and
dedicated post headers. Compared to the existing EP generation, EP II has considerably
increased electric ratings: At up to 600 VAC and up to 10 amps of current, the
interconnection system can be used for standard white good and home appliances, but
also for other applications with higher voltage requirements.
EP II single-row plug housings with a .156” centerline (3.96 mm pitch) are available with
EP II 4-Posn Retainer Housing with Latch and Tabs,
part number 2132781-4
2 to 12 positions to terminate discrete wires AWG 22 to 16. They comprise of a housing,
snap-in receptacle terminal and newly added 12-position breakaway style contact
retainers providing Terminal Position Assurance (TPA). The inserted TPA retainers also
prevent the contacts from backing out in applications with random vibration.
EP II connectors utilize new lance-less terminals (contacts). The lance has been
replaced by a stamped-out window on the terminal underside. The window slides over
a plastic locking tab in the housing cavity and again produces a tangible and audible
click when the terminal is fully seated. By inserting the TPA retainer the contacts are
secured by a secondary locking device.
