Adding remote shutdown circuit to satellite receiver
Source: InternetPublisher:super_star Keywords: Remote control circuit Updated: 2024/06/27
I recently installed a satellite receiving system. After using it, I found that there is indeed a problem with the shutdown of the digital satellite receiver: the remote shutdown only shuts off the output signal. Most of the machine is still working; I have to get out of bed to shut it down, which is extremely inconvenient.
I have a hard time falling asleep. I used to set the TV to turn off automatically after I felt sleepy for half an hour. This way, I fall asleep and the TV is turned off. Since I used a digital satellite receiver, it is no longer as convenient as before. In order to extend the life of the machine and save electricity, I have to turn off the digital satellite receiver!
The Gaussbell GSR-S80F I used is an economical product. Although it has menu settings, it has no output terminals (and this method also requires relays, button switches, etc.). Later I used a simpler method:
After the remote control shutdown relay contact of the TV, before the switch power supply (see figure), lead out AC 220V, and install an AC socket on the TV shell for the digital satellite receiver to use, which solves the problem. At the same time, turn off the TV by remote control (or timer).
I also turned off the digital satellite receiver, killing two birds with one stone. The power of the digital satellite receiver is only about 20W, which has little effect on the relay; the standby power of the TV is also 3W (better than turning on the satellite receiver), which can be ignored. The most important thing is that the modification is very simple, without too many components, tools and home appliance knowledge.
