Application Schematic and Description
The circuit of a stereo 290mW , 8Ω audio amplifier driven by LM4800 is shown in the figure above.
LM4800 has built-in amplifiers A and B, whose in-phase terminals (INA+, INB+) are connected together and a reference voltage (VRFE) of 1/2VDD is applied. The power supply voltage range is 3~7V, and the no-load power supply current is 205mA (when VDD=5V). The two inputs VINA and VINB are applied to the inverting input terminals INA- and INB- of amplifiers A and B respectively through CiA, RiA and CiB, RiB, and the two output signals on pins ① and ⑦ are applied to loads RLA and RLB respectively through coupling capacitors COA and COB. CCA, RCA, and CCB, RCB connecting IC pins ① and ② and pins ⑦ and ⑥ are frequency compensation components of A and B respectively. The signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) is 100dB, the ratio of total harmonic distortion plus noise to signal [(THD+N)/S] is 0.15% (typical value), the slew rate is 5V/μs, the power supply ripple rejection ratio (PSRR) is 55dB, and the operating temperature range is -40 to +85°C.
Compatible models on the market include APA4800, ETK4800, etc. Now it is often used in conjunction with CSC8004 (low voltage dual-channel volume control IC) to form a complete application circuit.
