A bidirectional diode is usually used to trigger the thyristor. When there is no bidirectional diode , a simulator composed of two silicon
transistors of the same structure (VTi and Vtz as shown in Figure 11-35) can be used instead. The conduction voltage of the simulator
is determined by the resistance of the triode and the resistor Rz. Due to the semi-controllable circuit , the voltage on the electric heater EH is about 110~210V
(regulated by RP).
