The circuit using the MAX1576Y charge pump to drive a white LED is shown in the figure. This circuit can drive two groups of white LEDs (each group has 4 white LEDs) with a total current of up to 480mA. For a group of white LEDs in a flashing state, this circuit allows each white LED current to reach 100mA. Each group of white LEDs has independent current settings, pulse brightness adjustment and two-wire brightness control. Using adaptive switching, the average efficiency of the circuit can reach 83% during the entire discharge process of a single-cell lithium-ion battery. For digital cameras that use white LED flash, it is an ideal choice to use MAX1576Y to form a white LED driver circuit.
