I am a little confused about the definition of PIC18F4550 variables. [Copy link]

I recently used PIC18F4550 to do a project. I found that if I used too many variables, the program would have problems. Specifically, the values of other variables would be confused. I originally thought it was a problem with the program, so I rebuilt the project, but found that the problem still existed. The RAM of the microcontroller was only used by 8%, so it should not be a problem. For example, in this picture, I commented out uchar step_on, step_time, and the program worked. But after uncommenting, the program ran incorrectly. I don't know what the problem is. I really have no solution, so I come to ask for help.

uchar step_on, step_time are not used in the program, but problems still occur.
