Cirrus Logic has expanded its line of analog and mixed-signal audio converter integrated circuits with the introduction of two new stereo analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) for a variety of consumer and automotive audio products, such as set-top boxes, digital TVs, DVD recorders, audio/video receivers, in-car entertainment and service systems and musical instruments. The new 10-pin ADCs provide OEMs with the industry's smallest (less than 15 square millimeters) high-quality stereo audio ADCs. Jason Rhode, Vice President and General Manager of Mixed Signal Audio at Cirrus Logic, commented: "These new ADCs provide manufacturers with a simpler way to design analog-to-digital audio conversion blocks into their products. This solution provides outstanding audio performance in the industry's smallest form factor without the need for expensive support circuitry. Cirrus Logic has introduced 12 high-quality audio A/D converters in the past three years, providing the industry's most comprehensive product line to our many customers." Based on an advanced multi-bit delta-sigma architecture, the CS5343 and CS5344 operate from a single 3.3V or 5V supply and feature dedicated automatic mode selection without the need for external configuration. The converters also feature a unique input architecture that provides up to 7.5mΩ input impedance, giving designers greater flexibility to use simple passive input circuitry instead of stereo line-level inputs, thereby reducing design time, board size and cost. The CS5343 and CS5344 support audio sampling rates up to 108kHz and offer 98dB of dynamic range and -90dB of THD+N. The power consumption of CS5343 and CS5344 is only 50mW. The only difference between them is the serial audio interface format they support. CS5343 supports I2S format, and CS5344 supports left-aligned serial data format. Both CS5343 and CS5344 are 10-pin lead-free TSSOP packages. The unit price is $1.35 in 10K quantities.
