Application of 3D printing technology in PCB manufacturing [Copy link]

3D printing technology is gaining more and more attention in PCB manufacturing. Recently, foreign scientists have just developed a new method to 3D print sculpture pipes of another liquid by injecting water into silicone oil and then completing one liquid inside another liquid. The ability to produce 3D structures composed entirely of liquids through 3D printing technology paves the way for the manufacture of electronic devices that require flexible and retractable devices.
According to scientists' predictions, by chemically adjusting the pipes and the molecules flowing, a new way to separate molecules or precisely deliver nanoscale building materials to the bottom layer can be found. Researchers have printed "water lines" with diameters ranging from 10 microns to 1 mm, and have formed lengths of up to several meters in different spirals and branches. In the experiment, soon after water was injected into the oil, dozens of ligands in the oil attached to individual nanoparticles in the water to form a nanoscale super soap. These super soaps squeeze together like glass, making the interface between oil and water very stable and locking the liquid structure. "This stability means we can stretch water into a tube and it's still a tube. Or we can shape water into an ellipsoid and it's still an ellipsoid," Russell said.
They then had the printer insert needles into the oil base and inject water in a predetermined pattern. "We can squeeze liquid out of the needle and place it anywhere we want in three-dimensional space," said postdoctoral researcher Joe Forth. "We can also flatten the material with external forces, which can instantly break the stability of the super soap and change the shape of the water line. This structure has high load-bearing capacity." He said.
In addition, China has advanced technology in this regard, and Beijing Dream Ink is one of the representatives. Dream Ink is a liquid metal ink that can conduct electricity. When placed in a 3D printer, PCBs can be accurately printed out. This technology breaks the bottleneck and barriers of electronic manufacturing technology, allowing printers to quickly and freely produce electronic circuits at a low cost.
Circuit boards are important components of the electronics industry. Every electronic device requires the use of circuit boards. Traditional manufacturing methods require complex steps such as high-temperature copper film evaporation and chemical reagent etching, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and costly. In the future, 3D printing will easily achieve this. Will it subvert the traditional process of electronics manufacturing?
