About MSP430 FET-430UIF Emulator [Copy link]

In order to use some functions of the latest version of CCS (although some relatively lower versions also have them, but I think the new version is always more complete), I installed CCSV6.1. When the FET-430UIF emulator was connected to the computer for the first time, the corresponding VCP driver was automatically installed (the system was win7 64-bit). However, when debugging started, CCS prompted that the firmware must be updated before continuing. Although there was a cancel button, debugging was terminated after canceling, as shown in the following figure: Then I chose to update the firmware, and updated it twice in a row before normal debugging operations could be performed. Later, I found that there were some abnormalities in the program operation. After looking for bugs in the program for a while, I suspected that it was a problem with the operating system. After all, win7 64-bit is still criticized, so I installed a dual system of Windows XP on another computer and also installed CCSV6.1. After plugging in the emulator, the computer can recognize the emulator, but it cannot install the driver, whether manually or automatically. After searching online, I found that the firmware has been upgraded to version V3. The corresponding way to check the firmware version of the emulator is as follows (extracted from the online method): 1. Right-click on the emulator device in the device manager, select "Properties", switch to the "Details" tab, and view the "Hardware Id" property; 2. If it shows: VID_2047&PID;_0010, it means the firmware is version V3; 3. If it shows: VID_0451&PID;_F430, it means the firmware is version V2; In order to be able to use it on XP, I had to choose to downgrade to version V2 firmware. I found a more reliable software. The software interface is as shown below. Follow the instructions to perform the downgrade operation normally It takes about 3-4 times of plugging and unplugging the emulator according to the prompts (pay attention to read the precautions of the software to prevent failure). Then I plugged it into XP, and I could indeed install the V2 version driver that can be easily found on the Internet, and I was immediately happy. But when debugging, it prompted me to upgrade the firmware. After the upgrade, the system did not recognize the emulator. . . In fact, at this time, the firmware of the emulator is already V3, but there is no corresponding driver in the XP system. I found the corresponding driver on the Internet. Please go to download: click to open the link (the driver is very comprehensive). After installing the corresponding driver, the emulator prompted a second firmware upgrade (again, if you don't upgrade, you won't be able to use debug...), and it can be used normally after the upgrade. This is the situation I encountered today. I hope it can help others. I will continue to add something about the emulator. When I used IAR debug today, the software crashed. After forcibly closing it, I opened it again and found that the emulator could no longer be recognized. It prompted "fatal error: failed to re-initialize session aborted!" Then I found that the FET430UIF-CDC device was no longer displayed in the XP system device manager, but there was still a system prompt sound when it was unplugged; I tried to restart the software and the system, but it didn't work. Some people on the Internet gave a solution: restart the system and reinstall the driver. But I didn't try this, and chose to refresh the firmware. Downgraded in Win8.1 system (strangely, the device manager showed the CDC version of the emulator, and I installed the latest version of IAR6.3 in Win8.1 system to verify whether it can be used, but it was not possible). It may be a software compatibility issue. When the downgrade was halfway, the command line of the downgrade software kept prompting to plug and unplug the emulator, so I stopped the process. At this time, the status was installing the VCP version of the firmware, and both status lights were off. After uninstalling the emulator driver in the system, I installed the VCP version of the driver, and then took it to the system with CCS6.1 installed for simulation. CCS prompted to upgrade the firmware. After confirming, the new firmware was erased. At this point, the indicator light began to flash normally, and I thought it should be OK.
