National Semiconductor Corporation ( NYSE: NSM) announced that it has achieved the best performance in its history and therefore decided to reward each of its 8,500 employees worldwide with a 30GB Apple iPod video player. In addition to satisfying personal entertainment needs, this popular MP3 player will be used by National Semiconductor as a tool for employee training and communication, allowing employees to download company-issued information in real time and access their employee communications.

"As a company, we are always looking for innovative and effective communication methods to strengthen our connection with our employees, and the iPod is exactly what we need," said Brian L. Halla, chairman and CEO of National Semiconductor .

Last Thursday, National Semiconductor announced its fourth quarter and full-year results for fiscal 2006 , noting record-breaking operating profits and gross margins. Last Friday afternoon, 1,600 employees at the Santa Clara, California, headquarters celebrated the company's new era at the annual employee picnic. At the picnic, Hebernian announced the company's iPod communications plan.

National Semiconductor specializes in designing, producing and marketing various analog integrated circuits, allowing portable electronic products such as iPod players to continuously improve their performance, such as ensuring longer battery life, clearer and more detailed images, and crisper and brighter sound.

"National Semiconductor achieved its most successful year in its 47 years," said He Baien. "Our employees have been working hard and making great contributions to the company. The company decided to give each of them an iPod as a reward, hoping that they will make full use of this practical tool to help customers launch products with higher value-added capabilities. Consumer electronic products are constantly being upgraded and updated. In this rapid transformation process, the quality of content plays a decisive role. For example, new products must have the function of downloading music, videos and digital photos to add interest to users' lives. The launch of Apple's iPod video player shows that this technological revolution has entered a new stage, and analog technology can package content more beautifully. National Semiconductor and all our employees can serve customers in this regard and help them improve the competitiveness of their products."
