Select a complete UPS power supply system to maximize the availability of the network system The operation practice of computer networks and communication networks shows that: only ensuring the high reliability of UPS while ignoring the integrity of the overall design and configuration of the power supply system of the entire network system does not necessarily lead to a network system with high availability. For example, a bank in Beijing once had a high bit error rate suddenly appear in its 2M digital communication trunk line, causing more than 800 branches and all ATMs to stop operating for 1.5 hours. In order to minimize the occurrence of such "accidental" failures, the following matters should be noted: (1) To reduce the potential difference between the neutral line and the ground line as much as possible, it is advisable to select a UPS model equipped with a double primary winding "output isolation transformer" on the inverter and AC bypass power supply channel. For UPS without an "output isolation transformer", high-frequency interference with a peak value of about 20V may occur between the neutral line and the ground line; (2) Select appropriate surge suppressors for the computer network system. Excessive and excessive surge intrusion may increase the bit error rate at best, or even damage the hardware (Modem and gateway, etc.). For this reason, it is necessary to configure appropriate surge suppressors at the power input end and data communication line interface of the network, see the attached table; (3) To meet the needs of unmanned or undermanned network management systems, the UPS should be equipped with corresponding power management software and SNMP adapter. Interface Type | RS232 interface | Two-wire telephone line interface | Ethernet interface | ISDN Line Interface | PC/Server power input terminal | Maximum peak voltage that can be tolerated (8/20μs) | 30V | 260V | 8V | 60V | 465V | Distributor or SNMP-agent software to realize remote centralized monitoring and management, so as to realize the supervision functions of remote measurement, remote communication, remote control, remote automatic fault diagnosis and automatic analysis of product performance aging trend of intelligent UPS power supply system; (4) Pay attention to the anti-interference ability of network systems. In peacetime, people have long seen the potential harm caused by viruses and "hackers" who maliciously attack the network by modifying the "source code". However, once a war breaks out, computer network centers and communication networks will be the first targets to be attacked and interfered with, and not everyone may fully understand this. In order to prevent danger before it happens, the anti-interference ability of network systems should be given high attention. To this end, the following should be done: ① Unified planning, correctly select the neutral line, ground line system and shielding configuration scheme of the network power supply system. ② The "external battery pack" should be equipped with anti-electromagnetic interference and anti-"backflow noise" devices. ③ Consider connecting a “flywheel type” DC converter in parallel to the DC input bus of the inverter. (5) It is advisable to select UPS products provided by well-known manufacturers with strong strength and suppliers with high-level after-sales maintenance service capabilities. Relevant statistics show that for UPS power supply systems in service, only about 40% of the units can truly achieve their expected MTBF values. One of the reasons for this phenomenon is the failure to perform strict debugging operations and correct parameter settings at the factory or installation site.
