Avago Technologies (Avago Technologies) recently announced that the company has further expanded its incremental optical encoder products by adding a series of products with resolutions ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 cpr (cycles per revolution).Avago's AEDA-3300 series of optical encoders reduces manufacturing and development costs while eliminating the need to purchase additional supporting components. The AEDA-3300 series encoders can operate over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, making them ideal for servo, stepper motors and automation equipment, such as robotic arms and wafer handling equipment, and other industrial applications. Mr. Li Ting, General Manager of Avago China and Hong Kong, said: "Previously, traditional housing encoders with resolutions above 10,000 cpr were priced at around US$500. Our new incremental optical encoders are less than one-fifth the price of traditional products, while offering two times the performance. They provide excellent performance and cost advantages to a wide range of optical encoder markets, including encoder manufacturers, motor manufacturers, system integrators and equipment manufacturers." The AEDA-3300 series of optical encoders currently offer resolutions from 600 to 20,000 cpr and speeds up to 12,000 rpm (resolutions range from 10,000 rpm at 6,000 cpr to 1,950 rpm at 20,00 cpr). It operates up to 1 MHz for resolutions below 10,000 cpr and 650 kHz for resolutions between 10,000 and 20,00 cpr. Performance up to 80,000 ppr (pulse per revolution) can be achieved with a quadrature decoder and the highest resolution products. Its outputs use a dual-channel quadrature third gated index channel and also incorporate an RS-422 differential line driver. Most optical encoders are available in a variety of diameters , which is mainly due to the limitations of the code wheel and interpolation technology (the higher the resolution, the larger the diameter of the code wheel). Avago's AEDA-3300 series encoders maintain the same diameter regardless of resolution, providing housing encoder manufacturers with a specifically designed, overall package size of 17mm diameter x 24mm high. This means that the entire encoder engine can be stored in an optical encoder package with a diameter of 18 mm. For motor manufacturers who integrate optical encoders into complete motor assemblies, Avago also offers a version with a mounting base (28mm diameter x 27mm high). Since the AEDA-3300 encoder uses a code wheel to pre-calibrate the optical performance of the encoder, no special calibration tools are required in the application. The integrated bearing platform can also meet the requirements of higher client applications, and the performance of the encoder will not be affected when the shaft position changes.
