According to a research report published by an authoritative consulting agency, by 2008, 20 billion radio frequency identification (RFID) tags will be used annually around the world, and most of them will follow the current common electronic product code (EPC) standard. Research shows that the retail industry will inevitably adopt RFID in an all-round way. By then, the cost of each RFID tag on a product packaging box or a single product can be reduced from the current one dollar to 10 cents, or even as low as 5 cents. Source: China Packaging Network
