"Sky Road" Experiences Orange Automation -- B&R DCS System Applied to Qinghai-Tibet Railway[Copy link]
On July 1, 2006, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the highest and longest plateau railway in the world, was fully opened to traffic. From then on, the saying that "entering Tibet is more difficult than going to heaven" will be gone forever. This magical "Sky Road" winding 1,956 kilometers from Xining to Lhasa is an unprecedented crossing in the history of world railway construction. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway embodies and applies many world-leading IT and communication technologies. As the supplier of the monitoring system for the Golmud-Lhasa section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, B&R's APROL DCS system has added a lot of color to the opening of the "Sky Road".
The Golmud-Lhasa section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway consists of 34 stations and 159 GSM-R base stations. Its monitoring system includes 2 control centers (Lhasa and Golmud), 25 operator stations, 2 engineering stations, 4 runtime servers and 10 gateways. The project requirements are that on the 1,124-kilometer railway line, 225 field stations are connected to two control centers; remote diagnosis is implemented on distributed controllers; distributed measurement and control tags, different I/O points of different stations are very different; integrated in MIS, RUNTIME server, operator station video data storage, third-party system report; field controller buffers historical data when disconnected, such alarms must be sent to mobile phones in the form of short messages; Runtime server redundancy, historical data redundancy; login status tracking, etc.
Qinghai-Tibet Railway chose B&R because B&R's complete product line and stable product quality meet all these requirements: Ethernet communication is implemented at all stations, remote diagnosis on remote controllers, high-performance CPU, I/O modules and fieldbus systems realize flexible CAN I/O expansion, B&R APROL OPC server, realize flexible data exchange between RUNTIME server and third-party systems, user-defined "Chronolog DB" and integrated WEB server provide perfect reporting solutions. CaeManager is an integrated development environment with SMS function blocks and APROL "ChronologPlex" server, so redundancy is no longer a problem. In addition, APROL's "AuditTrail" function records all login details.
B&R APROL is a flexible modular DCS process control system. It is based on the LINUX system platform and is a highly integrated, fully integrated process control system with modern concepts. APROL has a streamlined and compact "APROL system one" to a complex system with redundant server functions, adapting to the new development trend of automation engineering development. It is based on advanced modular design concepts, uses advanced object-oriented technology, and realizes the concept of "integrated engineering development platform" through unified development tools and multi-person parallel operation mechanism. From parallel engineering to operation and monitoring functions, it guarantees all the requirements of a process control system and can be applied to all links from the field level to the control station. The system has been successfully applied in oil, gas, medicine, food and brewing, sewage treatment, steel industry and building control.
