In the next two to three years, China will enter the peak period of 3G infrastructure construction. However, behind the public's attention to the launch time of 3G and the issuance of 3G licenses, there are more infrastructure construction and testing that need to be prepared. From the current situation, the domestic attention to 3G has become uneven. Equipment manufacturers are enthusiastic, while end users are not; the discussion on the launch time is enthusiastic, while the basic conditions are not; the 3G industry is enthusiastic, while the supporting industries are not. The just released "2004 3G Talent Market Research Report" points out that while the society is focusing on when 3G will be launched, the basic application environment of 3G is still weak, especially in the training of 3G talents. Conservative estimates show that with the acceleration of large-scale construction and application of 3G projects, the market gap of 3G talents will reach more than 500,000. On the one hand, there is a huge demand gap in the total number of 3G talents, and on the other hand, the distribution in regions and enterprises is extremely uneven. The talent distribution in China's 3G market shows the characteristics of oligopoly. A large number of 3G talents are concentrated in a few enterprises. Among them, telecommunications equipment manufacturers account for the vast majority of 3G talents, accounting for 50.7%, followed by telecommunications operators, accounting for 29.9%, and the proportion of 3G talent reserves in other 3G-related enterprises is less than 20%. The survey shows that the talents that telecom operators need most in developing 3G business are compound talents. Only compound talents can be familiar with both traditional telecom technology and 3G technology. The traditional college-style training system cannot meet the 3G requirements in terms of the number of talents and compound talents.
