The price of large-size panels continues to drop, which has a great impact on the profitability of panel manufacturers. On the other hand, due to the long product development time and relatively stable cooperation with customers, the price of small- and medium-size panels has fallen at a much slower rate, and the profitability performance is better than that of large-size panels. On the other hand, with the opening of new production capacity above the sixth-generation line, many panel manufacturers have converted production lines below the third generation to small and medium-sized ones, and the layout of each panel factory in the product line has become more diversified.

Driven by the continuous growth of the market, Taiwan panel manufacturers have made great achievements in the small and medium-sized panel market. Among them, the monthly shipments of professional small and medium-sized panel manufacturer New Top Power exceeded 10 million pieces, ranking first among Taiwanese manufacturers. In the first quarter of this year, it even ranked second in the world with a market share of 12.4%. AUO's monthly shipments of small and medium-sized panels have also reached more than 6 million pieces, with a global market share of about 6%. E Ink's monthly shipments are about 2 million pieces. As for Huaying, which has just entered the small and medium-sized panel market, its monthly shipments are currently about 1 to 2 million pieces, and Innolux has a monthly shipment of about 700,000 to 800,000 pieces.

Panel manufacturers are optimistic about the market situation of small and medium-sized panels this year. In the second quarter, the shipment performance of mobile phones and digital cameras was not as expected due to the transition from old to new products. With the introduction of new products, the market will still show explosive power in the second half of the year. This year, TFT panels for mobile phones will accelerate the replacement of CSTN, making the growth rate of mobile phone panels better than the growth rate of the mobile phone market. It is estimated that the growth rate of the mobile phone panel market this year will reach a high growth rate of more than 30%, and the market share of TFT panels will exceed CSTN, reaching 55%.
