If your TV screen is black, don't worry, it may save you some repair costs.

A few days ago, the TV screen suddenly went black. Of course, there were some symptoms before, but the colors were a little wrong.

But the sound is still very loud.

If you shine the flashlight of your phone on the screen, um, there is an image. It is determined: either the backlight LED is broken or the power supply to the LED is broken.

To disassemble it, I placed the TV upside down on the table and removed a bunch of screws.

The power supplied to the LED is more than 40 volts. It is said that some are more than 70 volts.

It is basically confirmed that the LED is broken. This LED is indeed old. It is 12 years old. I don’t want to repair the LED lamp. So I went to Pinduoduo and bought a new one. Replace it.

OK, it lights up. It's brighter than before. I finally saved money on a meal using the electronics skills I learned.

Use the flashlight of your phone to shine on the screen to see an image. This method is really good. Now we should save money as much as possible.

That's amazing. I saw a video before where a guy found a TV that he hadn't used for long, but suddenly the screen didn't light up.

I took it back, bought it at a low price, opened it and fixed it myself, it seemed to be the light board or something else that was broken, I replaced it and saved thousands of dollars

Is it easy to replace the LED? I feel that the light board is not easy to replace.

Older models are easier to replace, but be careful when disassembling new large-screen TVs. Just don't damage the screen.  Details Published on 2024-6-21 11:37

I also got a bargain some time ago. I bought an AOC computer monitor for 50 yuan. The manufacturer described it as having a problem with the display. I took it apart and checked it in various ways. In the end, I found that the cable was in poor contact. I wiped the gold fingers with paper and it fixed the problem.

Replacing the LED is a big project. The screen needs to be disassembled, and the various polarizing plates and light averaging films inside need to be put back in order after being removed. It is also very easy to damage. Can the original poster post more pictures to show the repair process?

This is the only picture. Mine is fine. Some of the pillars inside are old. It doesn't matter. When disassembling: 1. Find a large table to protect the screen, and put something soft on the table upside down. 2. Pay attention to the classification of multiple screws. 3. Disassemble carefully. If you can't disassemble it, don't use brute force. See where it is stuck.  Details Published on 2024-6-21 16:33

This is the only picture. Mine is fine. Some of the pillars are just old. No problem. When I dismantled it:

1. Find a large table to protect the screen, and place it upside down on the table with something soft to pad it.

2. Pay attention to the classification of multiple screws.

3. Disassemble carefully. If you can't disassemble it, don't use brute force. Check where it is stuck or if there are hidden screws that have not been unscrewed.

4. If you are not sure, record more with pictures.

5. Remember to carefully separate the screen's wiring from the motherboard, and other necessary connections as well, and keep records.

6. Find the backlight voltage line, which is usually a separate power line connected to the screen. Measure the backlight voltage to see if it exists. If not, there may be a problem with the power supply. It is said that there is a voltage generator for TV backlight on the Internet that can measure the LED backlight. If it exists, it may be a problem with the LED.

7. There are two ways to deal with a broken LED. One is to repair the LED, find a broken LED to replace or bypass it (don't use it, but it may affect the brightness of the screen and some places will not be so bright). The other is to directly buy a LED of the same model to replace it.

8. Pay attention to the size and position of the screws when installing after replacement, and handle them with care.

I was hit by a high-voltage capacitor in an old TV. Now I feel traumatized when I see others dismantling TVs.
