How do you document what you learn? [Copy link]

I have been busy for so many years and learned a lot, but when I look back, I realize that I haven't learned anything.

Dear senior engineers, how do you organize your stuff?

In fact, it goes without saying that you should take notes for more than 30 minutes every day. If you write down what you have learned for 5 minutes after studying for a day, you will be very good after 100 days.   Details Published on 2024-9-14 19:35

Take notes, but the learning process will take more time. You can use cloud notes.

If you like open source things, joplin is a good choice. It supports various operating systems and can synchronize data via webdav.

There are also good software such as anytype.

What are you organizing? Just put what you have learned there. Get a hard drive to store important codes. Take a look at it when you need it. If you don't use it, it will become history.

For many things, you should just learn what you need. You can't learn everything and remember it all.

Review it and revisit it after a while. If you really forget it, forget it.

My thoughts on organizing this are:

1. When you record, you must be detailed , especially the program code. The comments must be written clearly. Otherwise, when you look back at the code you wrote a few years later, you will not know what it means and why you wrote it that way.

2. Categorize and summarize , and indicate the contents in the files or folders. If there are many annotations, put a description.TXT or readme.TXT in the folder to explain in detail.

3. Important things must be backed up , even with a password and transferred to the cloud.

To be honest, it takes a lot of time to organize, and the evaluation process is not systematic, so there is actually nothing to organize.

Just record the evaluation posts and test routines, and you will use them later.

It is indeed a good habit to summarize frequently

Let yourself always remember some important experiences and achievements

This way, when you are looking for a job in the future, you can easily mention your achievements when someone asks you about them.

Write documents, diaries, copy and backup the main code. Do you still need to use git to manage it and check the log?

The software itself is not important, as long as it is easy to use. The search and management functions are very important.  Details Published on 2024-6-24 20:10

If you can type it out in Word, it means it has entered your mind and heart!

I have seen so much that I am afraid I can’t keep up.

Every time I come across something I don’t understand, I collect information and write it down in a document. Although I have written down a lot, I don’t usually look at it. I just look through what I wrote down while recording.  Details Published on 2024-6-24 10:45

This is called fragmented learning. If you want to learn systematically, you must focus on the main points.  Details Published on 2024-6-25 08:51

Catalogs, inserts, notes, and sometimes even various classifications and summaries are required, which is exhausting.

I recently read a book about experience written by a big guy, in which he said that a good memory is not as good as a bad pen. It is really true.  Details Published on 2024-6-24 20:40

Yes, yes. The key is to make it easy to check, which is also the meaning of the topic of archiving the knowledge learned by brother Lugl.  Details Published on 2024-6-25 08:50
