What are the requirements for lightning protection filter circuit boards for frequency converters? [Copy link]

Small power inverters usually have a varistor or varistor connected to the ground PE on the input side. The function of this circuit is to short-circuit the inverter to the ground to discharge energy when high voltage lightning is connected.

In high-power inverters, not only are there varistors or varistors between the input side and the PE ground, but there are also varistors or varistors between the positive and negative busbars and the PE ground, and there are also varistors or varistors between the three-phase input and the positive and negative sides.

Does a high-power inverter need so many lightning protection circuits? Does removing the positive and negative ground PE and input have a big impact on the positive and negative?

Moreover, the lightning protection board is prone to explosion when used on site. I don’t know why. Is it a design problem that does not meet the safety regulations or is it that the insulation is reduced due to aging after long use?

I have only done lightning protection and anti-static design once, and it failed. I came here to learn from everyone's experience.  Details Published on 2024-5-8 11:01

A high-power inverter is required and cannot be removed.

The lightning protection filter circuit can enable the inverter to operate stably for a long time in various harsh environments without prone to failure.

In addition, lightning protection measures are taken into consideration when designing the lightning protection filter circuit board, such as being able to absorb and discharge overvoltage and overcurrent generated by lightning to prevent lightning from causing direct damage to the inverter.

One thing to note is that the design and manufacture of the lightning protection circuit board used should comply with relevant safety standards and specifications.

So, where does the lightning protection function of the inverter mainly enter the inverter?

Why does the insulation of the inverter require the inlet and outlet power of the inverter to be disconnected? What is this to prevent?
