I bought a laptop last year with 16GB of memory and a 1TB solid-state drive. Due to various reviews, half of the hard drive has been used up. In addition, I participated in forum activities such as follow me and Digi-Key activities, and received JD E-cards in return, so I thought about upgrading it to a hard drive + memory.

I originally wanted to upgrade to 64G memory, but the official website said it only supports 16+16G memory, but another big guy said it can be directly upgraded to 32+32G, so I only purchased a 32G memory, so that it has 40G memory. I originally wanted to upgrade the hard drive to 4T, but considering the heat of the hard drive, I only purchased 2T of memory.

Jingka orders are fast. I placed an order yesterday and it arrived at noon today:

The next step is the most important part: disassembly.

First, I looked for information on how to remove the outer shell. After looking for a lot of information, I finally started to remove the screws on the back:

Then find the network card and gently lift it up, and the back cover will come off. The motherboard is exposed, and there is still a lot of dust:

Put it in clean water and clean the two fans. Then remove the memory and replace the hard drive. Cover it easily.

[Shocking boot]

After powering on, only the light was on, but the screen wasn't, and the fan didn't turn on. . . . . Then I broke out in a cold sweat, wondering if it was broken.

Fortunately, I had read the experience of a senior colleague before, who said that it would take about 5 minutes for the screen to light up. So, after waiting for N minutes, I finally saw the screen light up. . . .

[Effect of Upgrade]

Open the system information and successfully recognize the 40G memory.

I opened Disk Management and recognized the hard drive, which means there is no problem with this installation.

[Regret]

I opened the memory management and saw that the 5600M memory I bought was downclocked to 5200. . . .

If you don’t play games, it may not matter.

Perfect upgrade... Next you can install a virtual machine and run Linux...
