Is active balancing more prone to accidents than passive balancing? ? ? ? [Copy link]

If you understand, please come to discuss.

I just saw a netizen in a car-related group asking: Why is active balancing more likely to cause accidents than passive balancing? ?

The manager was very confused. The first question was what is the difference between active and passive balancing? Is it true that active balancing is more likely to cause accidents? If it is true, why is it so?

Is there any knowledgeable friend who can help me clear up the confusion? ?

Battery parameters change over time and with use. If this change cannot be reliably identified and properly utilized by the active balancing system, it may cause problems. This is also the difficulty of active balancing technology.   Details Published on 2024-1-2 18:18

My understanding is that active balancing is still based on collection. Once there is an error in the collection, it will be dangerous.

Well, what you said makes sense. I saw another netizen said that the main idea is that simplicity is the best. Active balancing is more complicated and multiple links may go wrong, so the probability of error is much higher than that of simple passive balancing.  Details Published on 2023-12-28 09:49

Does it mean that the more you do, the more mistakes you make, and the less you do, the fewer mistakes you make?

I personally feel that the more complex the system, the more likely it is to have problems, and the simpler the system, the less likely it is to have problems.

However, we must also consider that complex systems may be so well designed that the probability of problems becoming negligible.
