Compensation N+9? Arm lays off more than 70 engineers in China [Copy link]

This post was last edited by Ouyang Sheng on 2023-12-18 17:27

According to IT Home on December 18, Bloomberg reported at noon Beijing time today that people familiar with the matter claimed that Arm recently laid off more than 70 software engineers in China and transferred some positions outside of Asia. One of the sources who wished to remain anonymous revealed that about 15 of the laid-off employees will be assigned to work on projects related to China. Another unnamed person said that the laid-off positions are currently being "filled" by contract software engineers who have participated in projects involving Arm's global business.

Arm said in a statement, "To ensure that the Chinese software ecosystem can fully leverage the maximum benefits of Arm performance and capabilities, Arm is reorganizing its software engineering resources in China to focus on direct support for local developers."

Arm outsourced the work of supporting Chinese customers to Arm China through a department called "Global Services", which once had nearly 200 employees. People familiar with the matter said that about 70 employees in this department may face layoffs or job adjustments, but Arm did not respond to this.

Arm's chief financial officer, Jason Child, told analysts in November that China's contribution to Arm's global sales had fallen to around 20% from 25% as the rest of the world grew faster.

As expected, the exciting parts are all in the comment section. Someone left a message saying that the compensation is N+9. I don’t know whether it is true or not.

Which private enterprise can compensate? ? ? If they don't deduct money from you, you're lucky. People who kill their own people are always the cruelest.  Details Published on 2024-1-10 21:54

People should be scrambling to get the people laid off by such companies.

Indeed, there is still a market for this kind of grassroots talent.  Details Published on 2023-12-18 21:39

If I'm N+9, I'll have to take a three-month break to relax.

Huawei's N+9 is enough for me to lie low for several years. Huawei is really willing to spend money. Study hard, improve yourself, and raise your value.

Foreign companies are more formal and operate according to the rules. Unlike most private companies in China, there is no compensation for resignation, only persuasion. Oh...
