How to detect the direction indoors? [Copy link]

I am planning to build an indoor positioning car, but there is a problem with the car's orientation. I want to use MPU6050 to detect the car's six axes and ultimately realize orientation detection.

I also considered using a magnetic sensor (compass), but the magnetic sensor needs to be drawn first, which is quite troublesome, so it is chosen with a lower priority than MPU6050.

Does anyone have any other good suggestions regarding interior orientation?

Why do we need to know the direction? Because knowing the direction makes it much easier for the car to reach the specified location. Without the direction, relying solely on UWB positioning requires more algorithms, and the path will be longer.

As mentioned in the previous post, the positioning algorithm is already relatively simple.   Details Published on 2023-12-19 14:26

It is not feasible. It is not feasible to rely on geomagnetism either, because there are too many ferromagnetic materials in regular rooms, which will cause uncorrectable magnetic interference to the geomagnetic sensor. Just use the positioning algorithm honestly, don't think it's troublesome, it's already the simplest.

It also feels cumbersome, there is too much data to process.  Details Published on 2023-12-15 17:52

Why do we need to consider the orientation? Doesn’t the positioning car automatically adjust its direction after receiving the new address?

The car can not only move forward, but also move backward and turn, which is too troublesome to link with the positioning system.  Details Published on 2023-12-15 17:52

At present, we have three beacons, and 40 square meters should be enough.  Details Published on 2023-12-17 19:08
