I think you should read newer posts.

Regarding the operating system, you should still read the official reference manual and data manual. Many official ones are online documents. Very good.

Old reference manuals are valuable but not necessarily up to date. New versions have many changes and may be a little different in use.

But books on computer languages, especially classics like C language, are still classics.
