Atmel® Corporation  announced the availability of XSense ™ , an innovative, highly flexible, film-based touch sensor that is currently sampling to select customers . XSense touch sensors not only enable a new generation of smartphones and tablets, but also extend touch capabilities into a wider range of new consumer and industrial products.

   XSense touch sensors are based on proprietary  roll-to-roll  metal mesh technology to provide a high-performance alternative to existing touch sensors. On this basis, OEM manufacturers can develop larger, lighter and smoother edge-to-edge curved touch screen designs for smartphones, tablets, Ultrabooks and many new touch products.
