Difficulty 3--Design and processing of free-form surface reflectors

The free-form surface reflector is the core component of HUD imaging. The design of its surface shape determines the final imaging quality of the projected image. It usually needs to be compensated and optimized with the surface shape of the windshield to eliminate the image distortion caused by the windshield. Currently, the materials used for free-form surface reflectors are plastics such as PC and COC, which have high requirements for the weather resistance of the material itself and the precision of the surface shape, and are difficult to process.

As related technologies mature and costs gradually decrease, HUD will be installed in more and more car models, bringing better driving experience to the public.
