This case will share how to use Xingda Easy Control's modbus to profinet gateway (XD-MDPN100) to connect Siemens 1200 series plc and realize the 485 communication compatibility conversion of Mitsubishi inverter to modbusTCP communication. By configuring in Botu, we can achieve connection and communication between devices.
First, we need to install the Xingda Easy Control Modbus to Profinet Gateway (XD-MDPN100) and the required software. Then, physically connect the gateway to the Siemens 1200 PLC. Ensure the normal operation of the device by properly connecting the network cable and power supply

Next, we need to configure the software: Open Botu and add PLC
Modify the IP address of the PLC. The IP address of this machine should be in the same network segment as the PLC.
Load the modbus to profinet gateway GSD driver file
Find the new MDPN driver in the GSD file hardware directory and select it
Connect the Modbus to Profinet gateway network port to the 1200plc network port
Modify the IP address and device name of the modbus to profinet gateway, or assign it by default
Open the inverter manual. Set the inverter 09 communication parameters
1. The communication address is 09-00, and the setting range is 1-254. The factory value is 1.
2. The default parameter for 09-01 communication transmission speed is 9600. If the communication speed is too slow, it needs to be increased.
3. The communication format is 09-04. The communication formats are mainly the following:
Before normal communication, the communication speed and communication format of the PLC and each inverter in the system must be consistent.
Communication data structure, in this case, select communication No. 3 and set 8, N, 2 for RTU
Set up Modbus to Profinet gateway 485 Modbus communication parameter settings
1. Function code 03H: Read cache content
Example: Confirm the current state of the inverter by reading the value of address 2101H. The data in address 2101H of the inverter is mapped with QW10 in the PLC, and the state of the inverter is confirmed by judging Bit1-0. If Bit1-0 is 00, it means that the inverter is in the stopped state; if it is 11, it means that the inverter is in the running state.
2. 06H: Write data into the buffer
Assign values according to the instructions of the inverter Modbus address. The inverter address 2000H corresponding to the PLC internal register is QW2. When QW204114 (binary 000100000010010010) is assigned, the inverter will run. If you want the inverter to stop A operation, you need to assign 4097 (binary 00100000000000001) to QW20.
